ai100 report
Artificial intelligence is now part of our everyday lives – and its growing power is a double-edged sword - Algorithm
In the coming decade, I expect that AI will play an increasingly prominent role in the lives of people everywhere. AI-infused services will become more common, and AI will become increasingly embedded in the daily lives of people across the world. I believe that this will bring with it great economic and societal benefits, but that it will also require us to address the many challenges to ensure that the benefits are broadly shared and that people are not marginalised by these new technologies. A key insight of AI research is that it is easier to build things than to understand why they work. However, defining what success looks like for an AI application is not straightforward.

Dangers Of Artificial Intelligence: Insights from the AI100 2021 Study
As part of a series of longitudinal studies on AI, the Stanford HAI has come out with the new AI100 report titled'Gathering Strength, Gathering Storms: The One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence (AI100) 2021 Study Panel Report.' The report evaluates AI's most significant concerns in the previous five years. As part of a series of longitudinal study on AI, the new #AI100report examines AI's most pressing dangers in the last five years. Much has been written on the state of artificial intelligence and its effects on society since the initial AI100 report. Despite this, AI100 is unusual in that it combines two crucial features.

Event Details: This is a fully virtual event that will be led by Russ Altman, Stanford University (AI100 Faculty Director), Peter Stone, University of Texas at Austin (AI100 Standing Committee Chair), and Michael Littman, Brown University (AI100 2021 Report Lead Author) discussing the 2021 AI100 Report, which released on September 16th. The event will offer two broadcasts (9:00am-10:00am PDT and 5:00pm-6:00pm PDT) for attendees to watch and engage with panelists who have contributed to the AI100 Report. We encourage you to watch the event live in order to submit your questions and engage with our panelists during each broadcast. The video recordings of each broadcast will also be available post-event on the HAI Website. The One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence, or AI100, is a 100-year effort to study and anticipate how the effects of artificial intelligence will ripple through every aspect of how people work, live and play.

AIhub monthly digest: September 2021 – AI100 report released, Tutorial Tuesdays, and haikus
Welcome to our September 2021 monthly digest where you can catch up with any AIhub stories you may have missed, get the low-down on recent events, and much more. In this edition we cover the release of the latest AI100 report, an award winning paper from IJCAI, some useful AI resources, and more. In this interesting article, IJCAI 2021 invited speaker Edith Elkind writes about the continuing quest to bring the theory of fair land division closer to practice. This is work that won Edith, and co-authors Erel Segal-Halevi and Warut Suksompong, a distinguished paper award at IJCAI 2021. Their article "Keep your distance: land division with separation" investigates fair land allocation under separation constraints.

Stanford Releases Report on the Current State of AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly advanced in the past half decade and is making major inroads across many industries and sectors worldwide. Earlier this month, Stanford University released The One Hundred Year Study on Artificial Intelligence (AI100) 2021 Study Panel Report. The new Stanford AI100 report is the second in a series following the inaugural AI100 report published five years ago in September 2016. Stanford plans to continue to publish the A1100 report once every five years for a hundred years or longer. "The field of artificial intelligence has made remarkable progress in the past five years and is having real-world impact on people, institutions and culture," the researchers wrote.
